Loi Pham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center on Mar. 13, 2026.
Born in Saigon, Vietnam on August 3, 1942, Loi Thi Pham was the only child of Kieu Van Pham and Ty Thi To. A devoted mother and grandmother, Loi, 83, of O'Fallon, Missouri has returned to the Lord on March 10, 2026. She passed peacefully at DePaul Hospital among loved ones.

Loi was the former spouse of Lon Van Nguyen; cherished mother of Kim Loan Nguyen, Luan (Phung Chau) Nguyen, Lasia (Sean) Roper, Leila (Anthony Lao) Nguyen, the late My Linh (Hiep Le) Nguyen; loving grandmother of Andrew and Angelina Le, Anthony Nguyen, and Asa Lao.

Loi was the heart of our home and the glue that kept our family together. As a single mother, she left her homeland with her 4 daughters after the Vietnam war to seek better opportunities for her children and reunite with her son. The journey was not easy. It took multiple attempts, imprisonment, and the possibility of death but throughout all this her faith kept her strong. After 7 days on open waters, we were rescued by the US Navy and brought to Singapore and then transferred to Indonesia's refugee camp Galang II where we stayed until we were accepted into the United States. Without family support Loi built a small community of friends who became family.

Loi was an amazing cook that brought us together through her meals, an avid plant lover, and a wonderful gardener who found joy in nurturing the things she cared for. Throughout her life she made sure we kept true to our Vietnamese traditions while establishing new traditions. In her quiet moments, she took delight in attending mass and watching Asian dramas. We will forever be grateful for her courage, her sacrifices, and the unconditional love she gave to each of us every single day.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish (https://www.assumptionbvm.org/Our-Parish/Online-Giving) , where she has attended for over 16 years.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18th from 4:00-8:00pm at Hutchens Stygar Funeral Home (5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr, St Peters, MO 63304) and on Thursday, March 19th from 9:30am until the time of Mass at 10:30am at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church (403 N Main St, O Fallon, MO 63366). Interment will follow Mass at Our Lady Cemetery & Mausoleum (8701 Orf Rd, Lake St Louis, MO 63367).
