Lois Anne Campbell Barksdale, 75, of Rustburg passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at her residence. She was the wife of the late Douglas Ray Barksdale.
Born on August 17, 1950, in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Campbell and Myrtle Thomas Campbell. Lois was a member of Thomas Terrace Baptist Church and was a founding member of Barksdale Cancer Foundation. She graduated from Rustburg High School in 1968. She then went on to receive an associate’s degree from Ferrum College and a bachelor’s degree from Averett University. Lois worked as an administrative assistant for both Limitorque and Liberty University.
She is survived by three children, Brett Edward Barksdale, Amber Reneé Grooms and husband, Chris all of Rustburg, and Christopher Ray Barksdale and wife, Amy of Warrenton; seven grandchildren, Ashley Megan Abate and husband, Joshua, Abbie Rae Barksdale, Taitum Mae Barksdale, Dane Isaiah Grooms, Fallon Skye Grooms, Finley Rayne Grooms, and Colton James Barksdale; and two great-grandchildren, Indy Lohr Abate and Salem Evans Abate.
She was preceded in death by five siblings, Ernest, Esther, Robert, Walter, and Earl.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm, Friday, February 20, 2026, at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Grooms officiating. Burial will be held 2:45 pm at Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg, VA.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:15 pm prior to the funeral service at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church.
