Lois Kim Smith Biddix, 64, of Morganton, passed away Monday, September 1, 2025, one day shy of her birthday, at her residence.
She was born in McDowell County to the late Lee Forrest Smith and Selma Plemmons Smith on September 2, 1960.
Lois was employed at Chaddock Furniture Workroom in Morganton for 15 years. A hard worker, she loved her job and worked as long as her health allowed. She loved being around her family, and she enjoyed taking care of her home. A sweet and kind lady, Lois was fond of animals. Her dog Pete held a special place in her heart, and she was known to take care of any stray animals that came her way. She was loved and will be missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Surratt, and five brothers and sisters, Joyce Bates, Wayne Smith, Mildred Parker, Grace Henderson, and Bryan Smith.
Survivors include her son, Charlie Biddix (Crystal); five grandchildren, Jordan Surratt Rhodes, Cameron Surratt, Christin Biddix, Madison Gonzalez, and Gabriel Gonzalez; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Burnette; and a special friend and companion, Tim Bishop.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 5, 2025 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Hill Free Will Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Gary Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.
