Lois Wallin was born May 10th, 1913 to B.F. and Mary Wallin in Eastern Oklahoma. She was #9 of 12 children: 6 girls and 6 boys. Her 1st brother died as a baby from diphtheria, 11 of the 12 children survived. They moved to Texas when she was 6 years old. She lived on a farm until she graduated from high school, then she moved to Goodwell, Oklahoma to go to college.

In Goodwell, she met Charley Boston. Both of them graduated from college. She married Charley Boston on December 24th, 1936. They both moved to Guymon, where Charley started his plumbing business. Then Charley decided to open a furniture store, as well as still keeping the plumbing business. They decided to build their family home at 1509 N. Lelia, where they lived until Charley's health turned bad and she could not care for him. Eventually, Charley had to go to Dunaway Manor until his passing on April 27th, 2006.

Charley and Lois were blessed with 3 daughters: Gay Houser with husband Jerry-deceased, and son Todd; Charlene Cates with husband Irwin-deceased and daughter Kelli and son Kevin; and Vicki Bryan with husband Jack and son Brad and daughter Debbie. She had a total of 5 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren: Mindy, Chris & Nick Nelson, Sophie Houser Thorpe, Mya & Macey Bryan, Ryan & Kyle Cates, and Savannah-(deceased) & Brianna McCant; and finally, 10 Great- Great Grandchildren: Olivia Thorpe, Blake, Brady & Brydan Carey, Cooper, Warren & Kennedy Nelson, Ellie & Miles Cates, and Rylee Bryan.

Lois lived at their family home for 5 years until she eventually moved to the Guymon assisted living facility, then to the nursing home, living there until her passing.

Lois was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church and enjoyed attending services whenever she could. She was the oldest living woman in Oklahoma before moving to the Pioneer Manor in Hugoton KS and died peacefully in her sleep on August 7, 2025 at age 112.

To the best neighbor I ever had. You painting of John Wayne is hanging next to my bed. Wish we had more time together. Until we meet again

A few years ago, I heard that Mrs. Boston was still alive and living in Guymon. I started a letter to her, then I heard the nursing home had closed and I didn´t know where to contact her.

I graduated from GHS in 1975 (50 years ago!), but I still think of Mrs. Boston often.

While in her classroom, I remember learning how to read, how to tell time, and how to walk with scissors.

I retired nearly four years ago, but now volunteer in a school (kindergarten - 2024, 2nd and 4th grade this year). You have no idea how many times I have shown a child how to walk with scissors, each time prefaced with, "Mrs. Boston taught me how to walk with scissors."

Mrs. Boston molded many young lives.

She may be gone, but will live on in my memories. My thoughts are with her family.
