Lois Bourne Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge on May 23, 2025.
Lois Ann (Ferguson) Bourne, a beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, friend, and faithful follower of Christ, passed away at her residence in Abilene, Texas, on May 21, 2025. She was born on February 2, 1961, in Mountain Home, Idaho, and spent parts of her early childhood in Colorado and Japan before settling in San Antonio, Texas, where she lived most of her life.
Lois's greatest joy was staying connected with the people she loved. Known for her infectious smile and genuine warmth, Lois never met a stranger; every conversation quickly blossomed into friendship. She exemplified Christ's love through her thoughtful calls and constant outreach, always checking in on those she loved.
Throughout her life, Lois served others. She worked alongside her late mother as a school crossing guard and joyfully volunteered in church nurseries, caring for children with tenderness and delight. Both Leon Valley Baptist Church and Bible Baptist Church in San Antonio held special places in her heart, fostering lifelong friendships.
Among Lois's proudest and most cherished moments was her marriage to Phillip Bourne on September 23, 2006. She often spoke of how much she valued their time together, and the happiness they shared remained one of her most treasured memories.
Lois also had a playful and nurturing spirit. She adored cats and kept a beloved collection of cat dolls, toys, and figurines. Her nieces and nephews fondly remember how she would take them to the nearby Icehouse, always treating them to snacks. They also spent hours together playing games like The Game of Life and mini pool-simple joys that reflected her deep love for family and fun.
Lois is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Phillip Bourne, and her parents, Waymond Ferguson and Eileen Tegethoff. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn Moore (Gary); brother, Paul Ferguson; nieces, Kristyn Reed (Michael) and Kathleen Poeschl (Colton); nephews, Jonathan Moore (Angeline), Brandon Moore (Kim), and Ryan Ferguson; great-niece, Bethany Reed; great-nephews, Nathanael Reed and Walker Poeschl; and her many cousins, aunts, and uncles in Arkansas and Idaho, all of whom she loved dearly.
Lois's legacy of friendship, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her favorite Bible verse, John 3:16, captures the love and faith by which she lived her life: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
SERVICES
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with an evening service at 6:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A Graveside Service will follow on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 9:00 am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband, who-like her father-honorably served in the U.S. Air Force.
