Lois Diane Byall, 81, passed away on March 17, 2023 at Envive Healthcare of Hartford City.
Diane, as she was called by everyone, was born in Hartford City on June 30, 1938 to Durward "Jim" Francis Monroe and Mildred Pearl (Cook) Monroe. Her parents preceded her in death.
She graduated from Hartford City High School in 1956. Diane married Thomas Arnold Byall on June 16, 1957 in Hartford City at Trinity United Methodist Church. He passed away on December 7, 2020.
Diane loved cooking for her family, she also spread her joy of cooking to her job, working in the cafeteria at Blackford County Schools until 2002 when she retired. For most of her career she could be found at William Reed in Hartford City. Diane had an infectious smile and a heart of gold, she never met a stranger and her laugh was contagious. She loved to take care of her family and spending time with them was the hi-light of her days. Diane and Tom entertained family and friends for 50 years at their Chapman Lake home in Warsaw. In her younger days she was an avid bowler and held the female game record of 269 for many years.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Mark A. Byall (companion, Janie Lowery) of Mishawaka; grandchildren, Cameron (wife, Gabriella) Byall, Gavin Byall, Tanner (wife, Danielle) Byall and Brandy (husband, Nick) Mangus; great-grandchildren, Grace Byall, Giulia Byall, Ari Mangus, Ada Mangus, Emma Byall and Koa Rush Byall; brother, Terry (wife, Jodell) Monroe of Seattle, WA; several nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her son, Douglas F. Byall, grandson, Bradley Robbins, brothers, Francis "Leon" Monroe and Robert Monroe; sisters, Elaine Freese and Ruth Ann Coons.
Diane will be cremated and A Celebration of Life Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aril 29, 2023 at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City. Memorial visitation will be from 12 (noon) to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at the funeral home.
