Made her transition from this life on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, with her daughter Tanya, by her side. She was 71 years of age. She was born December 31, 1953 in Saginaw, MI. Lois was a former member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, and Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. Lois was a former Medical Assistant for Dr. Harpal Singh, MD for many years and enjoyed caring for her patients. Following her employment in the medical field, Lois came to work in the family business, Evans-Smith Funeral Home, formerly known as Evans Memorial Chapel. She worked alongside her stepfather, George W. Evans, her mother, Annie M. Evans and her sister, Carla M. Thomas until the business transitioned into what is known as Evans & Browne's Funeral Home under the ownership of Lawrence E. Moon. Lois was employed by Evans & Browne's Funeral Home from 2012 until her retirement earlier this year. She offered comfort and guidance to a multitude of families within the community over the years. In her spare time, Lois loved cooking and was an excellent baker. She looked forward to the summer warmth, which allowed her to plant her flowers, garden and enjoy her backyard. She loved spending time with her family and those near and dear to her heart. We will miss her presence, but we are thankful for the many good memories that we all have shared with her. Her memory will be kept alive by her beloved daughter, Tanya L. Bracken, seven grandchildren, Tanisha Smith, Andre Smith, Jr., Chris Allen, Jr, (Cassie), China Whittington, Kennedy Smith, Deleion Smith and Delano Smith, five great-grandchildren, Demarcus, Alexandria, Sophia, Dream and Carson; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Renee' Taylor, Carla (Mark) Thomas and Sarah (Jim) Spotts; one brother, Michael Housen; many nieces and nephews including a special niece, Tanisha Taylor, her life long friends, Lenora Rush and Gwendolyn Brazil, many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. Lois was preceded in death by her son, Andre L. Smith, her mother, Annie M. Evans, stepfather, George W. Evans, uncle, Richard (Dickie) Moten and brother-in-law, Gregory Taylor. The family would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to Tara (Niecy) Moten, for her loving care and assistance with helping our family care for and comfort Lois. We would also like to thank Lawrence E. Moon, for his kindness and support, Alonzo Betts and Micah Biggins for their gentle, patient and loving care after Lois transitioned. We are extremely thankful for her entire Evans & Browne's Family. A celebration of Lois' life will take place at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Angela Parkes will officiate.
