Lois worked briefly at Pearce Telephone Company in Riceville and later worked as a clerical assistant for The Riceville Recorder.
She spent many enjoyable hours playing golf and was the women's club champion for several years at the Riceville Country Club, where she was a charter member. Lois also enjoyed playing cards with friends and family and was also a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also volunteered with fellow parishioners at St. Peter's making beautiful quilts that were donated to various causes.
