Elaine Workman Obituary

Lois Elaine Workman, 80, of Sandy Utah, peacefully passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 22nd.

Elaine was born on November 26, 1944 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Wesley and Naomi King. She grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado, and graduated from Grand Junction High School.

She climbed the ranks in Rainbow (a Masonic organization for girls) to become a Worthy Advisor and had to choose a theme song. Elaine's song was Climb Every Mountain and it seemed in her lifetime that she had a lot of mountains to climb. She led the group in community service and fundraising activities. She grew up in theFirst United Methodist Church in Grand Junction, Colorado where she attended with her family and relatives.

Elaine married the love of her life Dean Brent Workman on May 14, 1962. They were married for 63 years. They were blessed with two sons, Bobby Dean Workman and Alan Brent Workman. Theyalways had dogs-spoiled them rotten. They were like their kids.

Elaine had a successful career in the retail industry and working at Auerbach, RC Willeys, and retiring from JCPenney after many years of service. Over the years Dean and Elaine enjoyed golfing, the outdoors, camping, motorcycle riding with all the family and going to her boys' desert races. We can just imagine her being quite a hoot hanging out with everyone.

Dean and Elaine took pleasure in going on cruises with family and friends to many different ports, Alaska being one of their favorites. They loved taking their camp trailer through Alaska, Canada and places here in the U.S. They were fond of their retirement community in Santa Clara, Utah where they led and participated inactivities. They made dear friends during those years.

Elaine relished going on vacations with her kids and grandkids-creating memories for all and some stories to tell! She liked cooking and having family over for dinners, hosting parties and she had funon game nights with her friends. She was always the life of the party and get-togethers. One thing's for sure–Elaine made friends with anyone and everyone wherever she would go. She would have conversations with complete strangers as if they were friends.

She was a cherished and beloved wife, mother, grandmother (nana), great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Dean, her son; Alan, (Jay); four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren (with two on the way), sisters, Rowena Hanna and Marilyn King-Shepherd (Bruce Shepherd), brother-in-law, Gary Workman, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Workman; parents, Wesley and Naomi King; and her sister, Ruth Flynn.

She will truly be missed by many.

We'd like to give a special thank you to the Intermountain Health Care Hospice staff who showed great care and devotion. They were compassionate with the family and their warmhearted service was greatly appreciated.

Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 31st at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. The Workman family will receive guests for a Celebration of Life Luncheon honoring Elaine after the burial at the mortuary.
