Mary Kaye Reynolds Obituary

Mary Kaye Jones Reynolds, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 22, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 67 years old.

Mary Kaye was born on May 31, 1958, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Glenn Franson Jones and Florence Thomas Marchant. The second youngest of five daughters, she grew up on 10th Avenue in Salt Lake City, where she learned early the values of kindness, hard work, and faith.

She attended Ensign Elementary, Bryant Junior High, and West High School, graduating in 1976 in the top of her class. She graduated from the nursing program at Brigham Young University in 1978 and later returned to the University of Utah to receive her master's degree in Nurse-Midwifery in 2000.

While at BYU, Mary Kaye met Jeff Reynolds at a young adult event. The two were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on October 6, 1978, beginning a partnership marked by love, faith, laughter, and teamwork. Together they raised four sons: Todd, Weston, Cameron, and Marc.

A natural caregiver, Mary Kaye devoted nearly 40 years caring for mothers and their babies. She spent about half of that time as a Labor & Delivery Nurse and the other half as a Certified Nurse Midwife - most recently working at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah. She was known for her calm confidence, her compassion for mothers and families, and her ability to bring peace and encouragement into life's most sacred moments. Over the course of her career, she helped welcome countless babies into the world, a legacy of life and love that will endure through the generations she touched.

While raising her kids, she spent much of her life watching them grow up at the baseball park, and she wouldn't have it any other way. She and Jeff loved going to games and traveling for tournaments with the family. With four sons, there were often as many as 10 baseball games (and practices) on the calendar in a given week. And it didn't stop when her sons were grown, she and Jeff attended as many games and tournaments for their grandkids as possible, too.

Mary Kaye also loved to travel. After retirement, she went on many trips around the world with friends and family. Her travel logs are extensive and each trip created lasting memories. Perhaps her greatest global adventure was serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the first mission health advisor for the Ghana Takoradi Mission. She loved the people of Ghana, especially the children. Although her service was cut short due to her health, she was grateful for the opportunity to serve and left a positive impact on many missionaries and members.

She is survived by her sons Todd (Brooke), Weston (Missy), Cameron (Leila), Marc (Jensen), her grandchildren Ellie, Savannah, Cooper, Jackson, Boston, Grace, Jones, Isabel, and Ozzie, and her sisters Karolyn, Annette, Shelly, and Kathy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff Reynolds, and her parents.

Viewings will be held on Sunday, 10/26 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM and Monday, 10/27 from 10:00 - 10:45 AM at the Bennion Heights Ward located at 3555 W 5620 S Taylorsville, UT 84129. The funeral service will take place on Monday, 10/27 at the Bennion Heights Ward. Interment will follow around 12:45 PM in Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E 10600 S Sandy, UT 84092. The family has asked that you dress in bright colors to honor Mary Kaye.

Additionally, Mary Kaye's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sulieti Matelau, Hepi Feiloaki, and Aspen Ridge Home Health and Hospice for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the A.C.N.M. Foundation to support midwives and student midwives through scholarships, awards, and grants in Mary Kaye's memory.
