Lois M. Hanson

Lois Marie Hanson, the daughter of John F. and Marcelean (Friday)Derscheid, was born October 25, 1926, in rural Webster County, Iowa. She attended Wright Country School through 4th grade. Lois then attended school in Webster City, graduation with the "Class of 1944". On September 4, 1946, Lois was united in marriage with Lloyd M. Hanson at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Lois was a homemaker and worked as a receptionist for Dr. Schaeferle. She also worked with Lloyd at Hanson Shoe and Hobby Shop. Lois was a member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Order of the Eastern Star, was a Girl Scout Leader and sponsor of Lutheran League. Lois enjoyed reading, crafting and playing cards. Lois passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove at the age of 91 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Derscheid, Marcelean Friday Derscheid Blue; step father, Gurney Blue; husband, Lloyd in 2005; sisters, Marjorie Derscheid Neese, Judith Blue and Marcelyn Blue; and brothers, Richard Derscheid and James Blue. Survivors include her daughters, Janice Grandgeorge and husband Gary of Eagle Grove and Susan Borne and husband Alan of Shreveport, LA; grandchildren: Jennifer Grandgeorge of Eagle Grove, Jeff Grandgeorge (Kelly) of Eagle Grove, Jodi McKee of Plano, TX, Chris Borne (Courtney) of Benton, AR and Cathy Smith (Brian) of Keller, TX; great grandchildren: Darin and Cole Grandgeorge, Connor McKee, Miles Borne and Beckett Smith, sisters, JoAnn Derscheid Heath of Ida Grove, LaVonne Blue Patrick (Doug) of Shawnee, KS and a brother, Ronald Blue (Karen) of Lenexa, KS. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rotary Senior Living or Eagle Grove Memorial Library.
