Lois Kittelson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Cumberland on May 9, 2024.
Lois Mae Kittelson, 89, of Almena died on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at her home. She was born March 21, 1935, in Barron, WI to Walter and Dorothy (Hubbard) Picknell. She was married in Barron, WI on October 18, 1952, to Charles A. Kittelson who preceded her in death on November 1, 2005.
Lois was known far and wide for her ability to cook and bake. It was not uncommon for her home to be filled with her children and the children of the neighborhood. It was clear that she had a heart to serve. She would take freshly baked cookies and bread to the elderly. She also would happily take them shopping. When she was not working in the house, she could be found going on picnics, working in her garden, watering her flowers, or fishing with her husband.
Lois took great pride in being a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, and a great great grandmother!
She is survived by her two sons, Douglas Kittelson of The Dalles, OR, and Donald (Annie) Kittelson of Rice Lake; five daughters, Janice Buck of Prairie Farm, Rita (Leon) Lundequam of Barron, Deb Kittelson of Barron, Sue (Mark) Pletcher of Turtle Lake, and Lori Kittelson (Tom Brust) of Rice Lake; bonus daughter, Karen (Jeff) Hojnacki; 22 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; two sisters:Barb Grimson of Cedar Falls, IA, and Marilyn (Elmer) Lines of Chetek; two sisters-in-law: Barb Picknell and Deb (Bob Peterson) Picknell both of Arland; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter-in-law, Shirley Kittelson; son-in-law, Tim Buck; brothers: Wayne (Ruth), Harry (Darlene), Bob, Gary, and LeRoy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, May 16, 2024, at Northern Lakes Community Church with Pastor Matthew Earls officiating. Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery, Spooner, WI. Honorary Pallbearers are Jacob, Charles, Jared, Tim, Michael, David, Danny, Jon, and Justin. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland, and one hour before the service.
