Lois A. Lupton

Lois Annalee Lupton, age 101, of Yellow Spring, West Virginia, passed after a long and blessed life on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Lois was born on March 8, 1924, in Shanks, WV, she was the daughter of the late James B. Heare and Alverta Susan Saville Heare. Lois was a member of Willow Chapel United Methodist Church in Capon Springs, WV and also attended Shiloh United Methodist Church in Lehew, WV.
Known for her warm spirit and deep love for her family, Lois enjoyed nothing more than caring for those around her-whether babysitting her children and grandchildren or cooking for anyone who came through her door. She treasured simple joys, like chatting on the phone with friends, shopping at the Rio Mall and she carried a lifelong passion for music. A self-taught musician, she learned to play the piano, organ, and in her 80s proudly taught herself to play the bass guitar.
On April 11, 1941, Lois married Jesse J. Lupton, in Oakland, MD. They shared many years together until his passing on April 4, 2000.
Lois is survived by two sons, Randall "Randy" L. Lupton of Yellow Spring and Joseph "Joe" Brent Lupton and wife Bonnie, also of Yellow Spring; and one daughter, Judy Shade and husband Donnie of Bunker Hill, WV. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, Brent, Heather, Jessa, Randi Jo, Korey "Boomer" and Todd and seven great-grandchildren, Trey, Brevon, Ashlyn, Matthew, Austin, Brenna and Braxton, all of whom brought her pride and joy.
She is preceded in death by two sons, James "Keith" Lupton and Barry Lynn Lupton; a daughter, Sue Carol Lupton; three brothers, Ray Heare, Kenneth Heare, and Carol Heare Sr.; and five sisters, Doris Oates, Wilda Saville, Ollie Ludwig, Genevieve Cooper, and Juanita Larrick.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Giffin Funeral Home & Crematory in Capon Bridge, WV.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mike Funkhouser and Rev. Alanna McGuinn officiating. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery, Yellow Spring, West Virginia. A time of food and fellowship will be held after the interment at the Capon Springs Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
