Lois Anne MacNeil

June 13, 1938 - February 23, 2026

Lois Anne MacNeil passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on June 13, 1938, in Montreal, Canada, Lois later made her home in Rancho Cordova, California, where she lived from 1978 to the present.

Lois was predecessed in death by her beloved parents, Pearl and Charles MacNeil; baby sister Colleen MacNeil; her nephew and godson, Scott Brown; and her nephew, Todd Samoluk. She is survived by her three sisters, Barbara Brown(Larry), Lorna MacNeil, and Karen MacNeil (Lew Miller); her brother, John MacNeil; two nieces; one nephew; and many great-nieces and great-nephews who lovingly called her "Grandma Auntie Lois."

Known for her kindness, wit, independence, intelligence, and generous heart, Lois was deeply devoted to the roles she cherished most-sister, auntie, friend, and community member. She had a remarkable ability to make those around her feel inspired, supported, and truly loved.

Lois found great joy in penguins, figure skating, ballet, and jazz music. She was a dedicated local volunteer, generously donating her time, resources, and support to the Sacramento Ballet Company, Sons of Norway, and the Hot Jazz Jubilee Festival. One of her most treasured traditions was the annual family Christmas celebration, which included attending The Nutcracker Ballet and sharing the Norwegian Julebord in honor of Saint Lucia-a reflection of her love for both family and culture.

Lois's legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with her warmth, generosity, and steady presence. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
