Lois Mae Mullins of Honor MI passed away at the age of 82 on October 2nd 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on July 8th, 1943, the daughter of Martin & Alberta (Heckathorn) Rathburn
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Tom Mullins: brother, Norman Rathburn; daughter, Paula (Robert) McCans; son, Neal (Rhonda) Mullins. Grandchildren, Kristin (Evan) Witer, Ty (Shawontel) McCans, & Michael McCans. Great grandchildren, Nevaeh, Ty Jr & Phoebe McCans. She was lovingly known to her great grandchild ren as s Gigi. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Loie.
Tom & Lois were married June 24", 1968, in Grundy VA. They lived for several years in Ridgeville Corners, OH, then made the move with their family to the small town of Honor Mi where they bought a resort on Little Platte Lake in 1976. There they stayed for 44 years raised their family and made COUNTLESS lifelong friends, many of whom they still have today. As they grew older, they spent the winter months in Florida at the Fort Myers Campground where they made many more friends
Lois loved to play cards, a passion she passed on to her family. She enjoyed doing puzzles, bowling and sitting by a campfire with a nice glass of wine. She loved to laugh and sing and was an absolute joy to be around.
She was a caring, kind, generous and beautiful lady -and was known to have a mischievous streak. She loved to sneak down to the ice cream parlor and indulge in a good ice cream cone and then would try to "deny" it when she was caught:) She loved her family deeply and spent her life involved with all of them. She would often say, you all will miss me when I am gone - and we sure are feeling that now.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Reginald, Keith, Chuck and Melvin and sister Faye.
A private service for the family will be held at the Jowett Family Funeral Home in Benzonia Ml. A Celebration of life will be held at the new Benzonia Township Hall located at 2717 Benzie Hwy in Benzonia on Saturday, October 18th, between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00pm.
