Lois O'Daniel Obituary

Lois Margaret Kaden O'Daniel, of Naples, FL, formerly of Camp Hill, PA, died on January 16, 2023. Lois was 105 at the time of her death. She lived life fully with grace and humor and passed quickly and quietly at home. Lois was predeceased by her husband, Richard (Dick) Edgar O'Daniel and her daughter, Christine Margaret O'Daniel. She is survived by her daughters, Cathleen Morgan (Gie Morgan) and Lee O'Daniel; four grandchildren, two great grandchildren and Sooky Witchwoot, an extended family member. Lois was a World War II Navy veteran, with a rank of Lieutenant (JG) serving as a WAVE cryptographer. She met her future husband, Dick, as he disembarked from the USS Hornet. After marriage they settled in Camp Hill and she became a homemaker with a keen appetite for community service. She volunteered and served on the boards of the Girl Scouts of America, Red Cross, Polyclinic Hospital, Homeland Center, and the Junior League of Harrisburg. After Dick's death, Lois settled in Naples, FL where she again volunteered with local non-profits; her favorite being a stint as a researcher with the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. She was a frequent traveler abroad and an avid golfer, playing into her 90's. She is remembered fondly by residents and staff at Bentley Village in Naples for her wit, gracious demeanor, and fierce independence. Lois will be interred with her husband and daughter in a private ceremony in Camp Hill. Those wishing to honor her may make contributions to her favorite Camp Hill charity, Homeland Center, Attn: Development Office, 1901 N. Fifth St., Harrisburg, PA 17102 or donations may be made online at https://www.paypal.com/donate hosted_button_id=2E68CSF252CBG.

My sister Mary and I remember her and all the O'Daniels well. And their fine house on 25th St. When I got married in 1987, she wrote a nice note along with a fine present and it turned out that she knew or was related to neighbors of my husband's family, The Eddy family, in West Falmouth, Massachusetts. What a long life she had. Dick O' Daniel was a good friend to my father too. Here's to all the O'Daniels, with love from Mary and Elizabeth Keller
