Lois Elise Quade, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Monday, November 10, 2025 at the Nora Springs Care Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, November 14, 2025 at Sheckler Colonial Chapel, with Chaplain Michael Ward officiating.
Lois was born on August 1, 1941, near Rudd, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Irene (Kuhlmeier) Engels. She graduated from Rudd-Rockford High School in 1959. In her early years, Lois worked in several hospitals and care facilities as a unit clerk and nurse's aide, where her gentle and caring nature shone through.
On August 16, 1975, she married the love of her life, Wesley Quade, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they built a life filled with laughter, love, and adventure. They enjoyed camping trips, spending time at their trailer at Round Lake, Minnesota, square dancing, and traveling to visit family. For a couple of years, they lived in Colorado, where they loved spending time together at Estes Park, before eventually returning home to Iowa to be closer to family.
Lois had a true green thumb and took great pride in her vegetable garden. Nothing went to waste, as she canned much of what she grew, turning her harvests into something to be enjoyed all year long. She also had a passion for baking, making countless batches of cookies and special treats during the holidays that her family looked forward to every Christmas.
Lois had a soft spot for animals and shared a special bond with her granddogs Jax, Bolt, Walter, Bella, and Lucy, each of whom brought her so much joy.
In recent years, Lois and Wesley looked forward to their routines of playing Yahtzee and watching Wheel of Fortune together. She was also a loyal Chicago Bears fan who rarely missed a game. Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them grow. Her days were simple but full, centered around the people and moments she cherished most.
Those left to cherish memories of Lois are her husband of 50 years, Wesley; daughters, Becky Kirchgatter (Dean Kock), Tina (Ryan) Olsen; grandchildren, Chris, Jessica, Eric, Kelly (Tyler), Kyle, Riley, Emily, Wyatt, and Wesley; great grandchildren, Hayden, Hudson, Dakota; great-great grandson, Ryker; bonus grandson, Cody Bjorker and family; stepchildren, Sheryl Trenary, Bob (Nancy) Quade and Sondra Quade; brother, Kenny (Paula) Engels; special niece, Kelly Engels; as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin Engels; sister, Kathy (Kenny) Field; brother-in-law, Virgil (Vivian) Quade; son-in-law, Mike Trenary.
The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Croix Hospice and Nora Springs Care Center for their care and compassion for Lois.
