Halvorson-Taylor Funeral and Cremation Care - BrainerdLois Range passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on February 2, 2026.
Lois was born in Brainerd, MN, on March 27, 1933, the daughter of Leonard and Marie Rivers. She lived almost all of her life in Brainerd, with the exception of a few childhood years in Grand Rapids and her early married years in Crosby, MN.
She graduated from Brainerd High School in 1951. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker and raising 3 children, she always worked outside the home, beginning at Consumer Oil in Brainerd.
In 1963, Lois answered an ad for a cashier at Paramount Theater which quickly led to the manager position – one she held for 35 years. During that time, she saw many changes in the industry, from a single-screen venue using tape and reels to larger, multiscreen automated theaters.
After retirement, she enjoyed travel and camping with her husband, Ed Range, and became a volunteer at Bethany Care Center gift shop. After her husband’s passing, Lois decided to go back to work at the age of 77. She worked 9 years at Home Instead, caring for others in their homes.
She will be remembered for her love of family, wonderful Thanksgiving dinners and her generosity in sharing what she had. No matter what her trial in life was, Lois remained committed to her faith, knowing and trusting in God, which was evident to those who knew her.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Mike) Magnan; son Dan (Lisa) Anderson; brother Jerry (Jill) Rivers; sister Karoline Monson; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Duane Anderson; her brother Edward (Lorraine) Rivers; and her sisters Elsie (Dale) Nelson and Ellen (Art) Korhonen and her brother-in-law Noel Monson.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Edgewood Vista for the loving care Lois received.
