Lois Marie (Pluim) Ring, 69, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Eden Vista memory care facility in Fond du Lac surrounded by family. Lois was born on November 19, 1954, in Waupun, daughter of David and Delores (Kuik) Pluim. Lois was a graduate of 1972, Waupun High School. On March 8, 1975, she married Gary Ring. Lois grew up in Waupun and moved to Fond du Lac after marriage. Lois was a medical transcriptionist at Agnesian/SSM Healthcare where she retired in 2019. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ, Fond du Lac serving on many ministries over the years and was a past member of the church bell quartet.
Lois enjoyed reading, camping, golf, watching her grandchildren’s sports events and she was a past member of the Lois Club. She enjoyed hosting the traditional Pluim Thanksgiving meals as family was very important to her. Lois loved to quilt and gifted many quilts to family and friends with miles of thread connecting them all in love.
Lois is survived by her husband, Gary Ring; two children, Aaron (Shannon) Ring of West Chicago, Cory Ring (Heather Entwistle) of Madison; and five siblings; Jan (Gary) Beek, David (Jane) Pluim, Arnold Pluim (Barbara Reynolds), Leah (Brent) Nummerdor and Rachel (Larry) Marchand. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Finley, Levi and Josie Ring; two uncles; James Kuik, and David Brink; and cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, David L. Pluim in 2009; mother, Delores L. Pluim in 2023; grandparents, Arnold “Bum” and Grace (Konings) Pluim, John and LaVerne (Willemsen) Kuik; sister, Kaye; four aunts, Joan Bruins, Joyce Brink, Phyllis Kuik, Mary Ann Tank; and three uncles, Henry Bruins, Richard Tank and Ron Pluim.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 535 Stow Street, Fond du Lac, WI. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 12:00 pm at Pilgrim UCC with Rev. Jeannie Douglas and Rev. Steven Hecky officiating. If you have a quilted item made by Lois, please bring it to the Celebration of Life service for display in the sanctuary during the service. Cremation has taken place.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Eden Vista and SSM Hospice at Home for the special love and care provided to Lois. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Lois’ name for a memorial garden at Pilgrim United Church of Christ, 535 Stow Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
