Published by Legacy on Aug. 15, 2025.
Lois Jean (Kauffman) Ruh, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 14, 2025 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. She was the daughter of Lester and Helen (McDaniel) Kauffman of Miamisburg, Ohio, and sister to Peggy Ann Kauffman (Heck).

Lois was a 1952 graduate of Miamisburg HS, and a 1956 graduate of Otterbein College with a BS in Education. During her time at Otterbein, she was Vice President of her Sigma Alpha Tau sorority (Owls) during her senior year, and was selected as Winter Homecoming Princess for the basketball homecoming game. After graduating, Lois took a position teaching at her high school alma mater. She married Richard Eugene Ruh on August 3rd, 1957 upon his return from a two-year stationing with the US Army in Germany. Together they continued teaching careers at both Utica and Homer high schools in Licking County. Lois and Richard became the proud parents of Regina Hope and Jeannine Alicia Ruh.

Lois leaves behind her loving husband of 68 years Richard; daughters Regina (Bill) Ferrigno of Howard, OH and Jeannine Ruh of Parma Heights, OH; Granddaughter Wendy (Allen) Poff of Howard, OH; Great Grandsons Connor and Levi Poff; many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation to the caring staff at Grant Medical Center for their loving support and care during the several days Lois was there. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to a charity of choice.

A private burial service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery for immediate family.
