In Loving Memory of Lois J. Sarber
October 16, 1934 – November 11, 2025
Lois J. Sarber, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Paul and Alvina (Witte) Laderman, Lois lived a life marked by devotion, generosity, and spirited joy.
On July 5, 1953, Lois married the love of her life, Richard Eugene Sarber. Together, they shared 62 beautiful years of marriage until his passing in 2016. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. She was a devoted mother to Brenda and Ken.
Lois was a woman of remarkable vitality. An avid water skier, she slalom skied until she was 80, inspiring all who knew her with her zest for life. Her compassion extended beyond her family, she volunteered with Meals on Wheels and lovingly gave perms to nursing home residents, bringing comfort and dignity to many. She was very involved with outreach ministries in her church.
She found joy in gardening. She especially enjoyed her time at the lake cottage. It was her happy place. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with warmth and wisdom.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Sarber and Ken (Dolly) Sarber; grandchildren, Sarah (Andrew) Schmucker and Katie Sarber; and great-granddaughter, Savannah Schmucker. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard, and sister, Lolah Bremer.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 12 noon at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 5171 W. Smokey Row Rd., Greenwood, IN 46143.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to Meals on Wheels, 118 Rose Lane, Greenwood, IN 46143 or Mount Olive Lutheran Church: quilt ministry.
