Lois Lee Stevens, 80, of Mt. Vernon, IN went to be with the Lord, May 2, 2025 surrounded by her family at Brickyard Healthcare – Brentwood Care Center in Evansville. She was born May 13, 1944 in Mt. Vernon, IN to the late Archie and Lois (Stokes) Riley.
Lois graduated from Crossville Illinois High School in 1963. A devoted member of First United Methodist Church, she served on the church board, chaired the Susanna Wesley Nursery, and was an active member of the United Methodist Women. Professionally, she worked for 22 years as the PAC Coordinator at the University of Southern Indiana and was the first Director of the Posey County Senior Citizens. Lois was also involved in several community organizations, including the Posey County Home Economics Club, the Kitcheniers, and Toastmasters. In Spencer County, she generously dedicated her time to the Special Olympics for many years.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christy Lee Parsley; grandson, Nathaniel Parsley, and sister-in-law, Linda Riley.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, David Stevens; grandchildren, Candice Hubbard (Marc) and Benjamin Parsley, Jr. (Giulia); great grandchildren, Myles and Oliver Hubbard; brother, Gilbert Riley; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 am, Saturday, May 17, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, 601 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Christopher Millay and Rev. Ricky Simpson officiating. Private burial to be held at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until 11:30 am service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Susanna Wesley Nursery School at FUMC, 601 Main St., Mt. Vernon, IN 47620 or Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S. Rochester Rd, Rochester Hills, MI 48307-3115.
