Lois Faye Svoboda-Douglas

1963-2025

December 14, 1963 – November 13, 2025

Lois Faye Svoboda, 61, of East Bernard, Texas passed away at St. Lukes Sugarland on the early morning of November 13, 2025, following a brief illness.

Lois was born in East Bernard, Texas at Schumann Hospital to Bennie Svoboda Sr. and Emilia Scholz Svoboda. She was raised and lived most of her life in Wharton County. She grew up enjoying all things her daddy did, as the two were inseparable.

Lois attended East Bernard ISD from Kindergarten until she graduated in 1982. After high school she earned her associate degree from Wharton County Junior College.

Lois worked many years at the Travel Agency in Wharton, Texas before moving back to East Bernard. This is where she began fulfilling her dreams of cooking and sharing her food with the many.

Lois and her husband Jack Doulgas first opened EB Drive Inn where she prepared daily breakfasts and lunches. In 2000 they owned and operated the The Café in East Bernard for 13 years. As the family grew this truly became a family business. After closing The Café, Lois served people through personal health care as she became a trusted companion to many of the elderly.

Lois was preceded in death by her father Bennie Svoboda Sr. in 1999 and is survived by her mother Emilia Svoboda and husband Jack Douglas of East Bernard, her son Garrett Douglas (Jessica) of Fort Irwin, California, daughter Madison Douglas of Houston, son Grant Douglas of Conroe, her stepdaughters Whitney Weinstein (Joe) of Chicago, Illinois and Dana Bulian (Robbie) of Sugarland.

Services will be announced at a later date.
