Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. - Wausau EastLois G. Wenzel, 97, Wausau, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at North Central Health Care, Wausau.
She was born on May 10, 1928, in Edgar, daughter of the late Norville and Marion (Shanks) Justmann. On May 13, 1950, she married Orin Wenzel in Edgar. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2006.
Prior to having children Lois worked at Employers Insurance in Wausau. After her children went off to school Lois enjoyed being the playground “bouncer” at Thomas Jefferson Elementary. Some of her favorite pastimes included her weekly bridge games with the girls, nightly TV programs, her soap operas, and especially campfires up at Clear Lake campground.
Survivors include her son, Greg (Carmen) Wenzel, Wausau; daughter-in-law, Roxanne Wenzel; four grandchildren, Jessica Wenzel, Wausau, Kimberly (Erik Larson) Wenzel, Dodgeville, Stephanie (Jeremy) Wegner, Stratford, and Gus Wenzel, Wausau; three great-grandchildren, Chloe, Asher, and Eliza Wegner, Stratford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her son, John; husband, Orin; son, Brian; daughter, Cheryl; sisters, Judy Morse and Kay Thompson; and brother, David Justmann.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. A short visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the Mausoleum.
