Lois Fisher Wright, previously of Lawrenceville, Georgia and most recently Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away at Honor Health Thompson Peak in Scottsdale, Arizona after a brief illness. She was born April 28, 1935, in Cicerone, West Virginia, the only child of Docie Hill Fisher and Wilbur Fisher.
She was a graduate of Walton High School and Glenville State University in Glenville, West Virginia. She was employed as a teacher for forty-one years. Because of her husband's job transfers her career included teaching in several states: Winfield, West Virginia; Charlotte, North Carolina; Brookfield, Connecticut; Jacksonville, Florida; Raleigh, North Carolina; and Lawrenceville, Georgia. She was a member of several professional organizations including Alpha Delta Kappa.
After her retirement in 1997, she served as co-librarian at First Baptist Church, Duluth, Georgia, for eleven years where she was also a member. She and her husband were always active members of their church and were also involved in planting new churches in Connecticut, Florida, and Georgia. She and her husband were charter members of Ft. Caroline Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of the building committee which was responsible for the construction of the new church in 1981.
Lois and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout their fifty-eight years of marriage. They visited each of the fifty states, spent several winters in the Caribbean Islands, enjoyed two European tours, and many beach vacations. They loved Europe, especially Switzerland and the Alps. Myrtle Beach in South Carolina, Daytona Beach, and Clearwater Beach in Florida were frequent beach destinations throughout the years.
Lois often said she was blessed to have had many young people grace her path. After fifty-years-plus, she still remained in contact with several of her former students, especially the 1960 class from Winfield High School in West Virginia.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Geneva Wright of Scottsdale, Arizona, one granddaughter, Taylor Wright of Durham, North Carolina, several nieces and nephews, and her special niece Amy Maynard of Raleigh, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her dearest friends and the love of her life, her husband Glen L Wright, her parents, Docie Fisher Whited and Wilbur Fisher, her step-father Wilfred Whited, and her step-sister Anna Marlene Jones.
She will be buried at Elk Hills Memorial Park, Charleston, West Virginia, at a later date.
