Lon Paul Swainston, Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on September 24, 2025, in Juniper, Idaho, He was born on June 26, 1951, in Preston, Idaho, to Parley Tanner and Kathleen McKnight Swainston.

Lon’s heart found its match in his beloved wife, Kari Joanne Kreinheder, whom he proudly married on May 17, 1991, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they nurtured a family that stands as a testament to the strength of their bond. 

Lon worked and then owned and operated Utah System Builders for over 50 years. During this time he was also shoeing all the show horses and co-managing the operation of Saltaire Farm which was a full-time job.

Lon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he dutifully served as a Priest Quorum advisor and as Executive Secretary in the Bishopric.

Lon loved all outdoor activities; from hunting, camping, trap shooting, horseback riding, dirt biking, UTVing, boating, water skiing, snow skiing, and riding his Harley. He also had a love for rebuilding antique vehicles whether it be an old truck, Rolls Royce, tractor or motorcycle.

Lon's legacy will forever resonate through the lives he touched. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Kari, sons; Lon Paul Jr., Cody (Jade) Swainston, grandchildren Cooper and Scout, and future granddaughter on the way, his siblings, Margaret, Matthew, Eldon, Mary, and Annette. He was preceded in death by his father, Parley Swainston; his mother, Kathleen Swainston; and his siblings Mark, Janice, and Parley.

In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation to your favorite animal rescue, or pick up a stray cat the next time you see one.

Funeral services will be held Thursday October 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Layton Creekside Stake Center, 1480 W. Phillips St., Kaysville, Utah. Family and friends may visit Wednesday October 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the stake center prior to the service.

Interment, Whitney Idaho Cemetery
