Lon Michael Truckey, age 58, of Merrill, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born on March 7, 1965 to the late Robert and Patricia (Atkielski) Truckey in Milwaukee, WI. He attended and graduated from Merrill High School. Lon faithfully served his country in the United States Army, until his honorable discharge.
Lon worked in window production, first for Hurd, then Sierra. He was also an over the road truck driver. Lon enjoyed being outdoors and loved being in the woods. He had a green thumb and was great at gardening. He had the biggest heart and was very generous and kind. Lon helped a lot of people and would go out of his way for others. He gave the precious gift of life to many people through organ donation, his final act of giving. He will be sadly missed, but the memory of him will live on.
Lon is survived by his children: Justin Truckey and Jayce Truckey, his siblings: Raymond (Carie) Truckey, Hope Ziarnik, Belinda Kimbrough, Tina Kiefer (fiancé, Jason Echterling), Troy (Brenda) Atkielski and Kim Steele (fiancé, James Proctor) and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his angel: Bella and his right- hand man and best friend: Scottie. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Per family request, no services will be held for Lon.
Family wishes to extend a huge thank you to the staff in the ICU at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, especially Alec & Josh, and the UW Organ and Tissue team, as well as the Aspirus donor staff for their care, compassion and support shown to Lon and his family during his last days. They were phenomenal to the family and calling Lon a hero.
