Lon Willhite was born in Greenwood, Arkansas to Charles and Madge Willhite on October 22, 1940. He passed away November 3, 2025. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Hackett, Arkansas until moving to Searcy, Arkansas.
Three years ago, with my 4 kids, Boris (Candy) Willhite, Mary McCain, Djuana (Robert) Burlison, and Deeta Hendrix. After fifty years, he remarried his first wife, Nancy, on February 1, 2025. He attended First Baptist Church at his daughter’s work The Crossing at Riverside, with Pastor Gary Laney. Lon enjoyed going there and visiting with new friends.
Lon was preceded in death by his parents Madge and Charles Willhite; wife of forty-three years, Patsy Willhite; stepson Mickey Shwerin; two sisters, Betty Hollaway and Connie Sue.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Willhite of Searcy; son, Boris (Candy) Willhite of McRae; three daughters, Mary McCain of Lonoke, Arkansas, Djuana (Robbie) Burlison of Beebe and Deeta Hendrix of Searcy, Arkansas; one brother Tom (Sherry) Willhite of Greenwood, Arkansas and a slue of grandkids, nieces and nephews.
Lon worked at Inland Containers for twenty-two and a half years; he was then employed at Yeagers working nine and a half years. He also built houses and did carpentry work before retiring at the age of sixty-two.
After retiring, he enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing cards, going to auctions, flea markets, doing antique shopping and going out to eat and telling jokes! Lon also enjoyed seeing and spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids, great grandkids and one great-great grandchild. He also loved his many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W Dewitt Henry, Beebe, with service at McConnel Funeral Home in Greenwood later.
