Lavern Thompson, 95, of McRae, Arkansas went to meet the Lord on October 18, 2025. She was born in McRae, Arkansas to Finis and Alice Strayhorn on June 1, 1930.
She loved fishing, camping, cooking, and spending time with her dog, Lucy. Lavern used to spend her time sewing and making anything from clothes to stuffed animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max Thompson, her companion, Wallace Cotton, and her brothers, Herman, Clarence, Glendal, O.C., Delbert, Franklin Strayhorn, and sister, Opal Webb.
Lavern is survived by siblings Shirley Suratt, James Strayhorn, and Juanita Stanley; and a host of nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, 404 W. Dewitt Henry Dr., Beebe, Arkansas, followed by funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
