Carmie Thompson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Funeral Home - Louisa on Dec. 5, 2025.
Carmie Thompson jr. of Fort Gay WV departed this life on December 3 rd, 2025. He was

born August 28, 1959, to Carmie and Emma Thompson, both of whom preceded him in

death.

He left behind his wife and the love of his life Donna Thompson, three children, June

(Jason) Maynard, Ben (Martina) Thompson and Harley Thompson. Two granddaughters,

Emma and Sarah Maynard. A daughter of the heart, Tiffany Goodrich. A very special friend

who was like a brother to him, Dexter Young. His very special mother-in-law, who was his

second mom, Florence McWhorter. His family in laws each held a special place in his life.

Carmie lived his life in a quiet and gentle manner. He was known as a man of great

strength and integrity. He gave himself 100% to any task set before him. Nothing was too

big for him to tackle or too small for him to give his whole attention and care to.

His work career was a testimony of his character. He worked for Wellman's Hardware,

Adkin Asphalt, Interstate Traffic Control, and Highway Safety. Doing what was right and

honest for each of these companies was of great importance to him.

Carmie's three children each inherited different traits that clearly came from their dad.

June has his work ethics and the ability to acquire and master many different skills. Ben

has the distinction of having laser focus and the ability to stay on one task until the

smallest detail is immaculate and in place. Harley has the self-discipline to persist

through pain and persevere through the hardest circumstances. They were the pride and

joy of their dad's heart.

His Granddaughters Sarah and Emma grew up spending many nights at their grandparent's

home. Carmie enjoyed sharing movies and food with them, and he watched over them and

loved them both with a special place in his heart just for them.

Carmie shared his life with his wife for 40 years. She was the love of his life. They grew up

together, built the home they lived in and in recent days had worked together on their farm

and raised cattle, which had been a lifelong dream of his. They enjoyed their life together

through all the demands of work and home life and enjoyed their last years working

together on their farm, taking in music events and riding his motorcycle. They were

inseparable through every trial and joy life gave them.

There are few men who are as faithful and true as he was. Psalm 20:6 says: Most men will

proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? Those who knew

Carmie would say they knew one. He will be missed and thought of often.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday December 7th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Wilson Funeral Home.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Care for Carmie and his family has been entrusted to our family at Wilson Funeral Home.
