Obituary of Lonnie Jean Bohnen
Lonnie Bohnen (nee Bohmert), age 66 of Willernie MN, a beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully departed this life to dwell eternally with Jesus on June 14th.
As the firstborn child of Jack and Bonnie, Lonnie graced this world in 1957. Lonnie attended Mahtomedi High School where she forged lifelong friendships and met Mark. Together, they raised 4 children. Lonnie worked for St. Paul Companies, stepping away to devote herself to nurturing her children, and later re-entered the workforce, serving in the media center of Mahtomedi High School. For 24 years, Lonnie poured her heart into fostering a love for reading in young minds. She retired in September 2021 and embraced this time with joy - savoring moments with her grandchildren, taking time for her passions of gardening, reading, dancing, knitting and deepening her involvement in her cherished church, St. Jude of the Lake.
Throughout life's trials and triumphs, Lonnie remained steadfast in her faith - placing her love for the Lord and her servant heart above all else. By God's providence, Lonnie embodied Colossians 3:12-17 and her life was marked by her endless compassion, care, and grace to others.
Lonnie now rejoices in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, reunited with her precious son, Brett. She is also preceded in death by her parents Jack Bohmert (Virginia) and Bonnie Gunderson (Joe), and her twin sisters Teri Nix and Tami Sigstad.
While Lonnie was prepared to meet her Savior, her heart remained tender for those she would leave behind. She leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of being loved by her. Lonnie will be fondly remembered by her children Amie Van Den Boom (Ihsan), Scott Bohnen (Erin), Abby De Jong (Andrew); grandchildren - Valentina, Patrick, Jamison, Ryan, Elliott, Youseph, Gideon and Baby De Jong on the way; former husband, Mark Bohnen; brother, Todd Kendall (Nicole); and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday June 20 at 11:00AM at ST. JUDE OF THE LAKE CHURCH, 700 Mahtomedi Avenue, Mahtomedi. Visitation starts at 10:00AM - 1 hour prior to Mass at the Church. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery on Friday June 21 at 10:00AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Jude of the Lake or Compassionate Friends.

Lonnie and I worked together in the Media Center at Mahtomedi High School for 20 years, becoming fast friends. I learned so much from her! She was the kindest and wisest person, and I'm the richer for having known her. I will miss her terribly. Rest well at last, dear Lonnie, I love you!

I first met Lonnie when she was a senior in HS. She started part-time at St. Paul Companies, where I had worked for a year. We've been friends ever since. She has always been the kindest, sweetest person anyone could know. I'll miss you dearly Lonnie. Love you always, Elaine Baker
