Lonnie Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by King-Tears Mortuary, Inc. - Austin on Mar. 29, 2026.
Lonnie L. Brown Jr., passed away peacefully on March 16, 2026, at the age of 89. He was born on April 2, 1936, in Smithville, Texas to Lonnie Brown Sr. and Bessie Mae Patrick. An embodiment of compassion and generosity, Lonnie moved through his life with a heart full of kindness and a spirit of giving.

Lonnie graduated from Old L.C Anderson high school in 1954 and spent his career as a state employee. He retired after 35 years from the texas water development board. His dedication to his community was evident in his work and his life outside of it. He was a proud member of the Travelers Golfers Association, a testament to his love for the sport and the camaraderie it nurtured. Lonnie was a wise and gentle soul, often reminding others that "The best portion of a good man's life is his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love," a quote from William Wordsworth that he held dear.

Married to his loving wife, Mae Medearis Brown, Lonnie was a cherished step-father and dear friend to Cynthia Medearis and Darrell Medearis. He was a pillar of strength for his family, a source of wisdom, and a beacon of light in their lives. Lonnie is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Brown Sr., and his mother, Bessie Patrick, his sister Dorothy and brother Morris Brown.

We invite all who knew and loved Lonnie to share their memories of him and upload photos to his memorial page. Lonnie's legacy is not just in the life he lived but also in the lives he touched with his compassionate heart and generous spirit. Your stories and pictures will help keep his memory alive for generations to come.
