On the morning of Saturday, September 13, 2025, God called his name and the angels escorted Lonnie Johnson Hicks. Sr. to his heavenly home. Lonnie Johnson Hicks was born on August 21, 1929 in Cairo, Ga. and was raised in Fort Lauderdale, Ga. to Gladys and Lee Richardson. Lonnie and Martha Ann Hicks were joined together in holy matrimony on Saturday, September 18, 2004.
He was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church and served on the usher board until he could no longer serve in person, however he remained spiritually present always. Lonnie loved to cook, work in his yard, attend to his beautiful tangerine, grapefruit and orange trees and taking care of his lovely wife, Martha Ann! He also enjoyed sharing the many adventures of his life with family and friends.
Lonnie Johnson Hicks Sr. was preceded in death by: Parents, Gladys and Lee Richardson; siblings; and stepdaughter, Thomastine Ford.
Lonnie's wonderful spirit of love, laughter and wise council will be cherished by his devoted and beloved wife, Martha Ann Hicks; children Lonnie (Tousha) Hicks, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fl.; Jacqueline Myrick Price of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Carol (Anthony) Askew of Twinsburg, OH. stepchildren (who affectionately called him "Pop and Popi") include: Derek (Veronika) Bembry of Wiesbaden, Germany; Wanda (John) Wojewidka of Las Vegas, NV; Darlene (Joseph) Skinner of Lithonia, GA, Brenda Wright of Waycross, GA, Frank (Myra) Chisholm of Savannah, GA and Matthew (Kimberly) Chisholm, Jr. of Waycross, GA.; special nieces and nephews: Pennie & Burnar Taylor and Bishop Clarence & Margaret Adamson; a wonderful host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will also hold close the memory of Lonnie Johnson Hicks, Sr. in their hearts forever.
