Lonnie James Ruston passed away peacefully on January 6, 2026, at his home in Mountain City, Texas. Born on August 1, 1941, in the small town of Driftwood, Texas, Lonnie's journey through life was marked by his unwavering spirit and love for adventure.

Lonnie was a man of faith and family. Lonnie was a proud tradesman, having attended trade school to master the skills of an electrician. His career was marked by hard work and a steadfast commitment to providing for his family. His colleagues knew him as a reliable and skilled electrician, one who took pride in his work and who could always be counted on to lend a hand.

Outside of work, Lonnie was a man who embraced the great outdoors with passion. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Skiing and riding motorcycles were among his favorite pursuits. His love for the mountains in Colorado was profound, and his favorite family memory was a Christmas trip they all took one year.

He is survived by his devoted son, James Ruston and his wife, Gloria; his cherished daughter, Janet Etheredge and her husband, Jeff; and his adored grandchildren, Chase and Ashlynn Ruston and Owen and Grace Wilson. Lonnie's life was enriched by their love and the joy they brought him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Sue Ruston, their twin sons, James and Clint Ruston, his parents, Lonnie and Irene Ruston and stepmom, Ruby Ruston, whose memories he held close to his heart.

Lonnie James Ruston lived a full life defined by his family and his love for nature. His legacy continues through his grandchildren and the lasting impressions he left on those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
