Lora T. "Lori" Benhoff

Lora T. "Lori" (nee Timmermann) Benhoff, age 63, of St Rose, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1962, in Breese, the daughter of the late, Aloys "Ollie" and Jeanette (nee Schuette) Timmermann.

Lori is survived by her husband Matt whom she married on May 21, 1988; her children, Austin (Amber) Benhoff, Blake (Lydia) Benhoff, Lacey Benhoff; and grandbaby Benhoff who's expected to arrive in January, all from St. Rose; sisters Lynn (Tom) Broeckling, Maura Timmermann, Mona (Carl) Henrichs, and Janel (Brian) Zurliene; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mary Stefanisin, Mel (Mary Jean) Benhoff, Marlene (Tim) Bequette; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard "Stix" and Marie (nee Sudholt) Benhoff; brothers-in-law, Mike Benhoff, Maurice "Speedy" Benhoff, Mark Benhoff, Leon Benhoff, and Mike Stefanisin.

Lori will be remembered not only as a devoted wife and mother, sister and sister-in-law, but also as a dear friend to her close family friends, Joe and Jan Tebbe, and Alex "Bump" Kruep.

Monday night family dinner was the weekly highlight Lori looked forward to. After dinner it was story time and a LOT of head shaking and eye rolling from their mother. This began to diminish after the cancer diagnosis began consuming most of her time.

God bless Lori's sister, Mona who has been Lori's, "Guardian Angel" here on earth. Throughout all of Lori's life, Mona has been the person she has constantly relied on. After her diagnosis of breast and pancreatic cancer, Mona's house was the first stop after leaving St. Louis. Mona was there to help console, explain, and define all the drugs, procedures, and help understand, what's next and spend precious hours at her bedside during her final hours.

Lori also found a large, "Family of Friends," when spending time at Harbor Light Bay. She could be found almost every summer weekend at HLB or floating around Carlyle Lake on a pontoon boat. There were so many friends, fond memories, good times and great people that are appreciated and will never be forgotten.

If you couldn't find Lori at HLB on the weekends, then you needed to go to the Tebbe Clubhouse or Joanie Willis's pool on Sunday afternoons enjoying family and friends.

When Austin began playing soccer, Blake playing baseball and Lacey cheerleading, you could be sure to see Lori sitting in the bleachers, hollering, "you can do it," and not missing a minute. She definitely was their biggest cheerleader, supporter, and fan!

Throughout her life, Lori demonstrated profound strength and unwavering resilience, particularly in her courageous battle with the demoralizing disease called cancer. Lori fought this disease three different times throughout her life, ovarian cancer, breast cancer, that she battled and beat. This time Lori lost her battled pancreatic cancer that she fought for almost 3 ½ years. She was a true warrior that never looked back.

Lori was very proud of her 40 years of service to the Department of Defense, DITCO. She was a devoted member of the St. Rose Development Club, St. Rose Catholic Church, past Parish Council Member, HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary, Sunday School Teacher, and Chairlady for the Pro-life Baby Bottle Champaign.

Lori was always looking forward to her lunch dates with her retired friends from Scott Air Force Base, dinner with her high school girl friends, and the monthly lunch with the St. Rose Lady friends to catch up on family, old times and current events.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose with Fr. Edward Schaefer presiding. Interment will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 13, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and again Friday, November 14, 2025, from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

In lieu of flowers, plants, and other gifts, memorials may be made to St. Rose Parish, St. Rose Development Club, or Mater Dei Catholic High School and will be received at the visitation or by mail at Moss Funeral Home, 535 N. 5th St., Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
