Lora Marie Bretz, of Lexington, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 10, 2025. She was born to the late Herbert Jefferson Bretz and Eleanor Jean (McKey) Bretz on May 15, 1960 in Paris, Kentucky. She was a long-time member of the Independent Church of God in Lexington.
Lora is survived by her aunt Jeanette (James) Hicks; niece Niah Soult and nephews, Nielson Soult and Jeff (Jess) Bretz; great-nieces, Olivia Bretz and Lilly Melton and great-nephew Hatteras Soult; and very close friends, Maysoon (Barjas) Dabbain and Cathy Semones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by a brother and sister, Deborah and Steven Bretz. She also was preceded in passing by her beloved cat Diva.
She was a graduate of Nicholas County High School ('78). She was crowned the Queen of the Blackberry Festival the same year, 1978. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, she worked in the Medical Records department at the Lexington Clinic. Lora also worked at the Delta ticket counter at the Blue Grass Airport during another phase of working life.
Lora loved shopping and thoroughly enjoyed gardening, cooking, and entertaining. Her favorite flowers were pink roses and white lilies.
Lora's services are private, in the care of Clark Legacy Center-Brannon Crossing.
