It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Lora Bryant, of Joplin but formerly Paola, on the 5th of January. After 62 years, she lost her brief battle with cancer. Lora is survived by her two daughters, Alicia Shay (Steven) and Holly Schlup (Josh) and 5 wonderful grandchildren: Kaden Shay, Hailey Schlup-Holub (Corey), Kinley Hadlock, Krislyn Hadlock and Taylor Schlup. Also left behind were 7 thoughtful siblings: Robert Bryant, Roger Bryant (Terri),Ilamay Evans (Richard), Janna Bryant, Randy Bryant (Kathy) and twin, Glora Mathews (Phil). She was preceded in death by both parents, Dale and Thelma Bryant and older sister, Ardell Dobbins.
She grew up in Paola where she graduated from in 1982. After uniting in marriage to Max Boydston, they became parents to Alicia and Holly. After their divorce, she and her girls moved to Ottawa and created many memories. She held a few jobs, all on the administrative side, working at Skyhook, BNSF, Great Southern Bank and Wilson & Son funeral home.
Lora was such a loving mother, sister, daughter and friend. Her laugh was infectious and she was great at taking care of those close to her. She had a way of making you feel so special. Lora was dearly loved and will be so deeply missed.
A celebration of life will be held from 4-6 pm on Friday, January 9th at the Dengel & Sons funeral home for those that would like to pay their respects. Donations can be made in her memory to The Oxford House in Joplin, Missouri.
