It is with a mixture of sorrow and gratitude that we announce the passing of Loralee Spencer Pearson, a courageous and dedicated woman who exemplified a spirit of love and service throughout her life. Born on April 4, 1938, in Richfield, Utah, Loralee was a beacon of strength and devotion to those who knew her.
While attending BYU as a student, Loralee married her high school sweetheart, Maughn Pearson, and was sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on March 20, 1958. She and her husband were the parents of five children--four daughters and one son. Loralee loved her role as a mother and homemaker. Music, reading, teaching and learning were very important to her. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ and she sought every opportunity to help and serve others. She and Maughn loved the Navajo people which led them to have several Navajo "daughters and sons" live in their home. They also served together for several years in the Yoomeenchoopeets Branch in Richfield, Utah.
Later in life, she enjoyed a very rewarding professional career as a Director at Nu Skin International. However, her contributions reached far beyond this professional role. She was a woman of action and served on many boards. She loved serving as a Board Member and as President of America's Freedom Festival at Provo, bringing joy, patriotism and unity to her community. She truly loved the 4th of July!
Her commitment to her faith was evident in her many years of dedicated service to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings, including Relief Society President, Young Women's counselor and advisor, organist, teacher, and alongside her husband, as Mission Leaders in the California San Fernando Mission from 1997-2000. She loved her missionaries as if they were her own children, and treasured her time as a missionary with the great members and people in California. Loralee and her husband spent four years at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, and also served as Hosts/Tour Guides at the LDS Conference Center for three years.
As stated in Doctrine and Covenants 58:2-4, "For verily I say unto you, blessed is he that keepeth my commandments... and he that is faithful in tribulation, the reward of the same is greater in the kingdom of heaven." Loralee embodied these words through her love of her faith and her family. Loralee is survived by her loving husband of almost 67 years, Maughn Pearson, children, Monilee Pearson Conrad, McKay Pearson (Jodi), Marcee Lohner (Mike), Sydney Lunt (John) and Melanie Winder (Brandon), 17 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and siblings Carl Spencer (Teri), Fred Spencer (Diana) and Tinna Willie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cosme "CG" and Nelda Spencer, and her older sister, Jewel Christopherson.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM MST at the Nelson Family Mortuary, 4780 No. University Ave, Provo, Utah, with a second visitation on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 9:30-10:45 AM MST at the Oak Hills 5th Ward Chapel, 1960 No. 1500 East, Provo, Utah. The funeral service will be held at the same location at 11:00 AM MST. Interment will follow at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery at 1:00 PM MST.
Loralee's life was a testament to her courage, dedication, love and positivity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. Please join us in celebrating her life by leaving memories and uploading photos on her memorial page.
As a family, we would like to thank the many loving friends, neighbors, doctors and caregivers who were so kind, thoughtful and attentive, and helped care for our wife and mother.
