Lorel Don Ferrin, 67, passed away unexpectedly January 23rd, 2026, in
Gilbert, Arizona. Lorel was born in
Jackson, Wyoming on July 22nd, 1958, to Howard Lincoln and Jessie Belle Berrett Ferrin. He was the youngest of five children. His younger years were spent in Jackson, loving the ski hill. He always felt he had learned to ski before learning to walk. After the death of his father in 1968, his mother re-married and moved their family to Sacramento, California in 1970, where he lived until 1975, when his parents retired to Boise, Idaho.
Lorel had a love of singing, and a beautiful tenor/baritone voice. In 1976 he traveled parts of Europe with the Idaho Singing Ambassadors. It gave him a lifetime of wonderful memories.
Lorel met his wife in September of 1975 after moving to Boise. They dated before he left on his mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to the Colorado Denver Mission. Cyndi "waited and dated" while he was gone and two months after he returned from his mission, they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on the 21st of September 1979. Lorel and Cyndi made their home in Nampa, Idaho after their marriage and then moved back to Boise for a few months before being transferred with the Phone company to Salt Lake City, Utah where they spent five years.
In 1986 US West moved the family to the Denver metro area where they would remain for 34 wonderful years until retiring to Arizona in 2020. He spent 39 years working for the phone company in Boise, Salt Lake City, and in Denver Colorado and took an early retirement in April 2018. Lorel received an MBA from the University of Denver in 2000 all while working and going to school and being the father of six children. He had the privilege of being a project manager for the 2002 Olympic Games in Salt Lake City and the Republican and Democratic national conventions of 2008. He gained so many friendships through his work life at Mountain Bell, US West, Qwest, and Century Link.
Lorel is survived by his eternal companion of 46 years, Cynthia Meredith Ferrin, four daughters, Aubrey Brooke Tutko (Patrick), Hillary Dawn Chatterton (Mike), Meredith Foltz (Ryan), Whitney Jessica Sheeley (Chris), one son Janzen Cole Ferrin (Noelle), one sister J'Deanne Rackham, two brothers, Eugene Berrett Ferrin (Jeanne), Val Ray Ferrin (Debbie), 19 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who adored him.
