Loren Patrick Baker, 47, of Belleville, formerly of Johnston City, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Loren was born on November 12, 1978, in Johnston City to Harold and Terry (Owens) Baker. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dana Uhls on September 6, 2002, in Marion. They recently celebrated 23 years of marriage together.
Loren was a 1997 graduate of Johnston City. After graduating, Loren answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army. Loren served in the 101st Airborne Division during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. Upon his return from the military, Loren attended Southwestern College where he earned his Associate of Arts Degree in Political Science, he later went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Workforce Education Development. Loren was employed as the Engineering Branch Chief at the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency in St. Louis.
Loren cherished every moment spent with his children and family, finding his greatest joy in the simple moments they shared. Whether engaging in spirited water gun fights, enjoying computer games, heading out on new adventures, or traveling to places near and far, he embraced every opportunity to make memories. He lived life to its fullest, never missing the chance to laugh, explore, or bring joy to others. His funny sense of humor could light up any room, leaving those around him smiling even on the hardest days. Loren was always there for the people he loved, offering life advice or a listening ear, he always made sure to check on people.
Loren is survived by his wife, Dana Baker of Belleville; children, Sydni (Andrew Burkinshaw) of Belleville, Alysa (Skyler) Baker-Garner of Colorado Springs, CO, Ayden Baker of Belleville and Dylan Hiller; one grandchild on the way; parents, Harold and Terry Baker of Johnston City; siblings, Taffy (Joe) Sullivan of Thompsonville, Jeff (Crystal) Baker of Johnston City, and Jason (Shannon) Baker of Johnston City; mother and father-in-law, Jan & Linda Uhls of Cambria; brother-in-law, Doug (Jennifer) Uhls; sister-in-law, Wendy Uhls of Plainfield. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John & Virginia Baker; maternal grandparents, Wilburn & Pat Owens; grandparents-in-law, Wendell & Maxine Uhls and Harvey & Geraldine Sanders.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Pastor Don Wright officiating. Inurnment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Johnston City.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.
