Loren A. Gill, a native and resident of Elmira, NY, passed away on August 23, 2025. He was 56 years old.
In his earlier years, Loren worked in food prep in local kitchens, including the Ponderosa. He enjoyed fishing, and loved country and rock music, especially Metallica. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, and was also a ‘father-at-large’ to many others across the years when they needed some fatherly love and support. He was the kind of man who didn’t have friends – he had family!
He was preceded in death by: his mother Linda Underwood, his brother Lenny Gill, and his grandmother “Ma” Jeanette Ryan.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Locke; his father Leo Gill; his daughters – Amanda Gill and Laura Gill; his step-children – Brian (Stephanie) Grover, Justina Locke, Stephanie (Brandon) Hughes, Ashley (David) Stedge, Kelsey Locke (Jason Riley), Madisyn Locke, Kayden Locke, and Jakob Locke; his step-grandchildren – Skylar, Lacee, Payton, Samuel, Alyvia, Raychelle, Leah, Alexander, Coralana, and Kileigh; his brothers – Lee (Kim) Gill, and Lynn (Margaret) Gill; his bonus brothers and sisters – Dan Ferraro, Ed Taylor, Josie, Nate Mamea, and Vicki Talada; many nieces and nephews; and his precious dog Maggie May.
Friends and family are invited to a celebration of his life on Sunday, September 7, at 3:00 PM at Harris Hill where they can share memories and a dish to pass.
