Loren William Youngers

Loren William Youngers, age 68, of La Veta, CO, passed away on May 29th, 2024.
Loren was born September 11th, 1955, in Kingman, KS, the son of George and Evelyn Youngers. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Doreen Amon, and niece Anne Marie Youngers. He is survived by four brothers: Ed of Garfield, KS, Melvin (Linda) of Moses Lake, Alan (Cindy) of Overland Park, KS, and Dennis (Danyelle) of Mount Juliet, TN, and six sisters: Carol (Bruce) Ross of Torrington, WY, Janet (Gary) Scheuerman of Garden City, KS, Lora Youngers of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lisa (Lance) Egan of Derby, KS, Myrna (Jim) Hamm of Tampa, KS, and Denise (Steve) Warren of Wright, KS.
Loren married Carolyn (Stinemetz) in 1978 in Hanston, KS, and they had four children and one grandson: son Bryan and wife Breeanne Youngers of Virginia Beach, VA, daughter Michelle, husband Heath, and grandson Creede Higgins of Westcliffe, CO, son Bradley Youngers of Naples, FL, and daughter Amber Youngers of Denver, CO.
Loren lived a life of service with integrity and faith. After graduating from Syracuse High School in 1974, Loren studied Criminal Justice in Garden City, and later graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA. Loren's long career of public service in law enforcement began at the Kinsley, KS, police department. From 1981 to 2007, Loren served in Elkhart, KS, first as the Chief of Police, and then for almost two decades as the Morton County Sheriff.
Loren retired from law enforcement in 2012 while serving in Kansas City, MO, before relocating to the beautiful mountains of La Veta, CO, where he served as Marshall before starting a self-employed construction business. Anyone who knew Loren knew that he could design, build, or fix almost anything, as evidenced by the house he designed and built for his family in Elkhart, KS, and the many volunteer projects he completed for his church.
Loren's life was marked by his quiet strength, strong faith, and a steadfast love shown through generous service and sincere concern for others. Loren will be deeply missed by all the people whose lives he touched over the years, and especially by Carolyn, his beloved wife of 46 years, his four children, and his young grandson.
A funeral service to celebrate Loren's life will be held in Elkhart, KS, on Saturday, June 8th at 1:00pm at the First Church of God.
