Maud resident Lorenda Alexis Carter, 44, passed away Friday, March 13, 2026, at her home.
Lorenda, the daughter of William Shaw Sr. and Rebecca Fleming, was born June 16, 1981, in Ada, Oklahoma. Lorenda was a sweet and precious lady who loved being around her family, especially her cousins. She always had a way of making people laugh and truly was one of a kind. She loved the country life, and her gentle spirit will always remain a part of the lives of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lillie Mae Harjo.
Lorenda is survived by Benny Sewell, of the home; her mother, Rebecca Fleming and David Fleming; her daughters, LeeTecia Elexis and Zach Lester of Shawnee, Ariah Sewell of Maud, and Nileah Sewell of Maud; and her grandson, Jaxxson Lester.
She is also survived by her brothers, William Shaw Jr. and wife Julie of Seminole, Andrew Shaw and wife Amy of Yukon, Kenneth Shaw of Wewoka, and Mason Fleming of Midwest City; her sister, Catrina Shaw of Holdenville; nieces, K’Lee Shaw, and Andriya Shaw; and nephews, Kalib, Kaisyn, Averi, Dru Shaw, and Zac Lefthand;
along with many other family members and friends who loved her dearly.
Casket bearers will be John Harjo, Zach Lester, Andrew Shaw, William Shaw Jr., Sagey Hicks, Craig Poafpybitty, and Frank Walters.
A wake service will be held Monday, March 16, 2026, at 7:00 P.M. at Wewoka Indian Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Wewoka Indian Baptist Church in Wewoka, with David Fleming officiating. Interment will follow at Goat Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole.
