Lorene Chewning Morris

Lorene Chewning Morris, 79, of Orange, died Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Dogwood Village of Orange.

Born June 16, 1930, in Orange, she was the daughter of the late Mary Frances Seal and Sylvester Lee Chewning Sr.

She was also preceded in death by a son, James Terah "J.T." Clark; a brother, Sylvester Lee Chewning Jr.; and two sisters, Rosa Walton and Mary Zava.

Mrs. Morris was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse at the Orange County Nursing Home and a member of Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Robbie M. Morris of Orange; a brother, John Henry Chewning of Salem; and a sister, Lula Morris of Orange.

Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2010, at the Preddy Funeral Home, Orange, with interment at Graham Cemetery. Dr. Richard Goble will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 7 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvery Baptist Church, 19076 Monrovia Road, Orange, VA 22960.

Robbie, Lynn and I are saddened over the death of Lorene. She was a very dear lady to us. We appreciate her kindness and thoughtfulness to many people including us. Both of you were tremendous blessings to us while we were in Orange. We loved her very much. You are in our prayers. Robbie, we love you and may God give you great comfort.
