Loreta Ann Hughes, 86 passed away on Thursday October 16, 2025, in her and her husband's home. Her family will host a visitation on Friday, October 24, 2025 from 6 - 8 PM at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, October 25th at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Bangs Cemetery, Bangs Texas.
Loreta Ann was born April 6, 1939 in Yantis Texas. She married William Harvey Hughes on April 3, 1956 and began a life together that blessed them with 4 children.
Loreta Ann was a believer in Jesus Christ. She was known as the family prayer warrior and would always encourage her children and family members to pray for one another as needed, many times by making her simple "prayer request" phone call. She was a faithful supporter of the Jimmy Swaggart Ministries where she often obtained The Expositor's Study Bible to gift family members on their special occasions. She enjoyed listening and supporting KBUB Country Gospel Radio. They knew her by name and would daily play her favorite song at her evening nap time, 2PM daily the DJ would play "Mama's Teaching Angels How to Sing" by The Issacs. Every nap or nighttime rest she would always clutch her miniature "Little Bible". She found great peace and comfort having that book with her. Loreta Ann, Mom, Nana, had a heart for the Lord and her prayer was always that her children and grandchildren and all family members would come to know Jesus as she had. Earlier seasons in life she enjoyed camping trips and spending time at the lake patio sitting listening to music, barbecuing, holidays and birthday celebrations always with her family and friends. Her family was her most valued treasure in her 86 years.
Ann is survived by her children, Harvey Lynn Hughes(Jan ) Lubbock, Texas, Marisa Diane Eden Lake Brownwood, Texas, Shawn Jevon Hughes (Jackie) Brookesmith, Texas, Angela Kay Absher (Dennis) Brownwood, Texas; Grandchildren, Bethany Powell (Jim Matt) Abilene Texas, Ashley Duncan Lake Brownwood, Texas, Shawna Fulton (Alex Delgado) Early, Texas, Latasha Chambers Brownwood, Texas, Delaney Hutson (Case Markham) Early, Texas, Colton Chambers Brownwood, Texas, Erin Chambers Brownwood, Texas, Cameron Hughes (Heather) Georgetown, Texas; 8 Great Grandchildren; brother Larry Don Payne (Sonia) Tuscola, Texas; Sister in-laws, Maudie Sue Jones Portales, New Mexico and Helen Hughes Burleson, Texas; many nieces and nephews.
