Loretta Brunk Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 1, 2025.
Loretta Eileen Brunk December 1, 1939 - August 14, 2025 Loretta (Lori) Brunk, 85, of Upper St.Clair, passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Lori was born on December 1, 1939 on Pittsburgh's North Side, the daughter of Joseph Chinko and Mary McDermott and one of twenty brothers and sisters. Lori married Rev. Robert K. Brunk on May 9, 1964, and they were blessed to celebrate nearly six decades together. Lori found happiness and peace in her family, and was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, but she contained multitudes. Lori was a dynamic woman with a creative streak that she expressed in numerous ways throughout her life. In addition to being a licensed cosmetologist, she enjoyed painting and crafting, but in style and food her talents truly shone through. Lori was impeccably stylish, a fashionista long before the word existed, and an accomplished cook, creating and refining recipes that brought friends and family back around her table again and again. That latter fact was reflected in her love of hosting large dinner parties, as she adored bringing people together and being able to care for them. Most importantly, Lori had a loving heart and was always willing to help those she loved in any way that she could-a willing listener, offering her quiet strength and an insightfulness that revealed her wisdom. Her soothing voice was a comfort in times of difficulty and pain, and is and will always be missed by her loving family. Lori was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert K. Brunk, and grandson, Brian K. Brunk. She is survived by: her children, Vivian Brunk, Michael (Sakina) Brunk, Mark (Paula) Brunk and Christine (Phil) DeShazo; her grandchildren, Lea Brant, Adam (Madeleine) Brunk, Kelli (Shane) Blank, Jacqueline (Dan) Bryce, Julie (Zach) Nelson and Allison (Sheldon) Satterthwaite; her great-grandchildren, Josephine, Amelia, Elena, Emma, Kal, Via, Valerie and Kaine, her sister, Margie Kolessar and nephews Don and Nick Kolessar. The family held a private service at Beinhauer with the Rev. Ron Wehrya of Faith Lutheran attending. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone wishing to make a memorial donation do so for the benefit of Meals on Wheels of Bethel Park, 2999 Bethel Church Rd., Bethel Park, PA 15102 (https://www.bethelparkmealsonwheels.com/how-you-can-helpcontact).
