Loretta Burnette, 84, of Ferris, Texas, passed away surrounded by the family she loved so deeply. Born in Kaufman County to Connie and Vera York, Loretta grew up with a strong appreciation for family, hard work, and simple joys-values she carried with her throughout her life.
In 1985, Loretta married the love of her life, Tommy Burnette. Their marriage was full of laughter, partnership, and a bond that only grew stronger with time. She was a devoted sister to Joyce Butler and a loving mother to her daughter, Cindy Sloan, whom she cherished beyond measure. Loretta's heart expanded even more with her grandson, Casey Sloan, and his wife, Kristi; and her two great-granddaughters, Morgan Carlisle and her husband, Tanner, and Kaylee Sloan. She also cared deeply for her extended family, including her niece, Cathy Jackson.
Loretta dedicated over 30 years to a career in mortgage banking before retiring in July 2004. She was hardworking, dependable, and known for treating people with kindness and respect. Even years after retirement, people remembered how warmly she greeted them and how she always made others feel important.
Outside of work, Loretta truly embraced life. She loved gardening and could make anything grow. She enjoyed traveling and was always up for an adventure, whether it was a big trip or a spontaneous getaway. She loved her family pets dearly and treated them like members of the family. She also enjoyed fun trips to casinos with loved ones, and she never missed a holiday, birthday, or family gathering-being with her family was where she was happiest. Loretta had a way of showing up for the people she loved, not just in big moments but in the everyday ones too.
To know Loretta was to know a woman with a soft heart, a playful spirit, and a deep love for her family. She made people feel cared for with her smile, her patience, and her genuine warmth. Her presence brought comfort, and her absence will be felt deeply.
Loretta leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion. Her family will carry her memory forward in the stories they share, the traditions she created, and the love she poured into every one of them.
