Loretta Mae Barnes-Coyle, 85, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, at Mountain View Community in Ossipee, New Hampshire, with her family by her side. Born on September 11, 1939, in Winthrop, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Drinon) Coyle.

Loretta worked as a secretary for an optometrist and raised two children alongside the love of her life, Walter Barnes, in Danvers, Massachusetts. Later in life, she moved to Deerfield Beach, Florida, where she delighted in watching her granddaughter grow up. In the years that followed, Loretta made her home across New Hampshire—from Seabrook to Plaistow, Lancaster to North Conway—before settling in Ossipee.

Known for her infectious spirit and often described as “a hoot,” Loretta was the life of every party. She had a mischievous smile, made friends wherever she went, and celebrated every holiday with flair—from head to toe in festive colors, sparkles, and bling. She lived boldly, vibrantly, and unapologetically.

Her strong faith and connection to the church gave her peace in her final days, knowing she would be welcomed home through the pearly gates. Loretta found joy in gardening, decorating, entering items in the local fairs, toasting with a martini, and cherishing the many friendships she cultivated over the years.

She is survived by her daughter, Kim Barnes of Minot, ME, and her son, Chris Barnes of Middleton, MA; her granddaughter, Shanna Maziarz and husband Mike Maziarz of Bethlehem, NH; her sister, Kathleen Rogato, and husband Robert Rogato of Epping, NH; her great-granddog, Nova and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

Loretta will be laid to rest and reunited with her beloved pug, Lola. In her final weeks, her great-granddog Nova brought her deep comfort—offering kisses, curling up by her side, and spreading joy among her friends and neighbors.

There will be no formal services. Instead, wear something colorful or sparkly, raise a glass in her honor, and celebrate the sparkle she brought to all our lives.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loretta’s memory to her great grand-dog’s rescue, Great Dog Rescue New England, at gdrne.com/donate
