Obituary of Loretta Good

Loretta Good, AKA Lori Shuster, age 91 passed away at home in the Twin Cities, Minnesota on August 30, 2025 with family right by her side. She is loved by her 2 talented and tough daughters, her 4 beautiful and sensitive grandchildren, her devoted and caring son-in-law, her big family and extended family in West Virginia, MN, MD, NC, SC, MEX, CA, PR, BS, FL, KY, OH, TN, PA, AZ and her many friends, co-workers and college students whom she graciously invited to her home.

Loretta's first career was modeling in Charleston West Virginia, then opening her own modeling school, and making her way to the showroom floor of Elizabeth Arden in New York City.

Despite how glamorous that all was, her proudest career choice was getting a job at the University of Minnesota and working her way up to become the Senior Administrative Director of the Department of Family Practice in the Medical School. She said that working at the U for 30 years was the college education she never got to have.

Loretta deeply treasured her eight siblings and their families. She spent countless hours researching family history and writing stories from memories of growing up on a farm in the 1930s -50s in West Virginia. She was always writing cards and letters, remembering birthdays of all her family, and she loved her phone calls with everyone.

Loretta leaves behind her love of nature, gardens, hosting fancy dinners, good home cooking, homegrown tomatoes, baking cakes, cornbread, biscuits, cooked apples, current events, telling funny stories, reading, writing, researching & always learning until the end.

Memorials can be made to the School of Nursing at the University of Minnesota.

A private memorial will be planned for a later date.
