Loretta June Holland, 85, of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at St. Anthony's Franciscan Health in Crown Point, IN.
She was born June 28, 1939 in Baltimore, Ohio, the daughter of Wilburn Tucker and Elsie (Wittington) Tucker, who preceded her in death. Wilburn Tucker was always proud that his family took up a whole row at church and now, with all of her 8 brothers and sisters gone, he's happy again because his pew is back to being full. June is also preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Kenneth and grandchild, Eric Grammas.
June, as she was known for much of her life, married Kenneth Holland on March 19, 1982 in Chesterton, Indiana, moving to La Porte in 1986. She was a wonderful homemaker who took great pride in maintaining a warm and welcoming environment in her home. She was a "safehouse" for neighborhood children, inviting them in until their parents came home from work. June found joy in camping, traveling across the United States in her camper, which she named "Arker Barker". Her artistic spirit shone through in her many hobbies and interests, including a variety of crafts, needlepoint, adult coloring and square dancing. While at Silver Birch, June looked forward to bingo nights and peanut auctions, as well as craft time. She embraced the spirit of the holidays, often hosting big family gatherings, and loved attending big family cookouts. June was very fond of her grandchildren and cherished the moments spent with them.
She is survived by her three daughters, Teonna (Stan) Janczak of Geneseo, NY, Sherri (Tiffany) Holland of South Bend, IN, Tabatha (Mark) Whitten of New Holstein, WI; son, William (Kris) Holland of Crown Point, IN; seven grandchildren, Amy Grammas, Mark (J.P.) Whitten Jr., Brandon (Jessika) Music, Margaret (Matt) Dickerson, Brooke (Jordan) Mosher, Evan Holland, Michael (Kylie) Holland; 7 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Haverstock Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 602 Maple Ave., La Porte, IN where the family will receive friends on Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 2 p.m. until service time at 4 p.m., with Reverend Nate Loucks, State Street Church, officiating. A private burial will take place at the Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Indiana.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Silver Birch Assisted Living, Michigan City, and Crown Point Christian Village for their dedicated care.
